Microgrids Keep the Power Flowing
A microgrid prototype to be built in Stamford, Connnecticut, will automatically be "islanded" when grid power is disrupted and continue generating power for the buildings or residences it serves. Powered by a combination of distributed wind, solar and natural gas generation, microgrids will keep the power on when the grid buckles from too much demand or a natural disaster.
