Power Company in $1 Billion Solar Play
AES Solar, a joint venture between power AES and equity firm Riverstone Holdings will pour $1 billion into utility-scale projects. This large investment from a U.S. power company reflects a shift in interest towards solar power as a power source for utilities. The two partners said the joint venture would become a developer, owner and operator of utility-scale solar installations ranging from fewer than two megawatts to more than 50 MW in size.
