California Communities Opt for Green Power
From Marin County to Hollywood, local officials in California are considering buying or owning their own green power. The communities believe they can lower rates or fight climate change more efficiently themselves instead of relying on utlities such as PG&E.
Even if the local communities aren't able to finance their own renewable power projects, these actions will put pressure on the utilities to incorporate more clean power into their portfolios. PG&E is actually one of the greenest utilies, by relying o nabout 12 percent of renewable power.
